Few designers have carved a niche quite as uniquely as Jack Irving. The fashion designer is renowned for his audacious, futuristic designs and innovative use of materials, he has become nothing short of a household name in the fashion industry. Jack Irving’s work hasn’t exactly slipped under the radar. And why would it? When your creations have caught the attention of the likes of Doja Cat, Cheryl, Lady Gaga, and the Spice Girls, you’re not exactly shrouded in obscurity.
Born and raised in Blackpool, England, Irving’s passion for fashion and design was apparent from an early age. Immersed in the theatricality of Blackpool’s rich entertainment culture, it’s no wonder he developed a taste for the dramatic and the eye-catching.
Naturally, his academic pursuits led him to the illustrious Central Saint Martins in London, setting the stage for what would become a rather spectacular entrance into the world of fashion. Jack Irving’s creations quickly commanded attention by the global fashion community in 2014 for their sheer originality and technical brilliance. Irving blends elements of performance art and haute couture in his design, characterized by the use of unconventional materials such as PVC and metallic fabrics, combined with an almost sculptural approach to garment construction.
Among Irving’s numerous collections, a few stand out for their impact on the fashion industry.
His use of cutting-edge materials and innovative construction techniques was on full display in his Enigma. We saw iridescent fabrics that shimmered like holograms and intricate patterns that seemed to defy conventional notions of form and structure. Beyond its visual impact, Enigma sparked conversations about the role of fashion in an increasingly digital age by integrating technology into his designs.
His Galactic collection, inspired by science fiction and interstellar exploration, featured garments that seemed plucked from the wardrobe of a space opera. Metallic fabrics, LED lights, and inflatable elements combined to create a futuristic aesthetic that was both alien and alluring.
One of Irving’s most high-profile collaborations was with the inimitable pop sensation Lady Gaga. Famous for her own bold fashion escapades, Gaga found a kindred spirit in him, resulting in a creative partnership that was nothing short of spectacular.
Together, they conjured up some of the most unforgettable outfits of her career, including the iconic inflatable sea urchin dress that made waves during her 2014 ArtRave tour.
Jack Irving has also collaborated with a roster of other illustrious figures and brands, including the celebrated Cirque du Soleil. These creations are ingeniously crafted to complement the performers’ dynamic movements, proving that he is as adept at dressing acrobats as he is at turning heads on the runway.

Irving’s work is an continuous exploration of the relationship between the human body – and what it could transform into.
