Designer and artist Moulham Obid, was born in Massiaf, Syria, in 1990. After earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts in 2012, he moved from Aleppo to Vienna, Austria.
After studying at Herbststrasse Fashion School, Moulham Obid launched his career with his debut collection Phi. Inspired by the golden ratio across math, art, and nature, Phi earned him the 2017 Austrian Fashion Talent Award from DIVA magazine.
GAIA
He followed this success with GAIA, earning the Austrian Fashion Association (AFA) Start-Up Scholarship in 2018. The GAIA collection is inspired by nature’s colors and shapes, with cuts that make dresses, tops, and coats stand out. Highlights include a coat made of pink tulle stripes and a black dress paired with a lilac tulle stole, featuring Moulham Obid’s artistic portrait of Gaia on a wide-cut cotton coat.
ABOUT MOULHAM OBID’S LATEST COLLECTION : SALVAGE
To salvage means to save something.
Moulham Obid’s new collection, SALVAGE, is a statement using recycled materials to create 16 unique looks that blend contrasting fabrics and craftsmanship. Inspired by embracing differences rather than avoiding them, the collection challenges societal norms by celebrating diversity.
Three years Obid worked on his SALVAGE. The collection features fabrics sourced from deadstock and vintage clothing, each piece telling a story of its own past. With its inclusive approach, SALVAGE breaks stereotypes. Expect to see bridal wear that merges different fabrics and cultures, and male and trans models showcasing lace and tulle on the runway.
