Ugliness Necklaces jewelry collection by Designer Jakub Bocianowski made from upcycled materials like doorknobs and clay

Jakub Bocianowski hailing from Szczecin, Poland presents his new project Ugliness Necklaces.

The jewelry collection was made from ready-made fittings from doorknobs obtained at a flea market, and the keyholes and doorknob holes were decorated with clay forms.

“The inspiration was the suffering and discomfort that accompany wearing this jewelry. The blue forms represent imperfection, which, when combined with the brass fittings, creates beauty.”

explains Jakub about Ugliness Necklaces collection
Jakub Bocianowski

Ugliness Necklaces not only serves as a bold fashion statement but also as an artistic exploration of themes such as pain, beauty, and transformation. The deliberate choice of materials—weathered brass fittings and rough clay forms—emphasizes the raw and unrefined nature of the pieces, challenging the conventional standards of beauty and luxury in jewelry design. Jakub Bocianowski ‘s Ugliness Necklaces encourages wearers to confront their own perceptions of beauty, pushing the boundaries of what is traditionally considered attractive.

In an age where perfection is often sought after, Ugliness Necklaces stands out as a celebration of flaws and the stories they tell. Bocianowski’s collection is a testament to the idea that true beauty lies in authenticity and the courage to embrace one’s imperfections.
