The Tuntenhaus has existed since 1990, is one of the oldest alternative housing projects in Berlin, and is considered a landmark of the gay and queer community.
A place that stands against right-wing agitation & provides housing for people from marginalized groups & social commitment to people with little money.
The district can acquire the Tuntenhaus because the private investor from Bavaria refused to sign a waiver agreement. This agreement would have obligated him, among other things, to refrain from expensive renovations, thereby protecting the current tenants from displacement.
We fought, we loved, we argued and we won!
The Tuntenhaus stays! Forever!
As has just been announced, the buyer has not signed the agreement to buy the building. The building senator gives the district the green light. The Right of first refusal will be applied, the Tuntenhaus will become public property, yippee!
Thank you to everyone who stood by us, who trembled with us, who were loud and helped us. It wouldn’t have happened without you. We have made it!
HIGH HEEL WINS
