2025 Berlin Contemporary winner, SVEASØN, will present its debut collection, MØLYBDØMANCY, at Berlin Fashion Week on Saturday February 1st.
The surrealist fashion brand fuses imagination, traditional fashion design, color, texture, sculpture, and identity to create its completely unique designs.
As a student at Central St. Martins, designer Svea Beckedorf felt restricted by designing only for the human form. She found inspiration for her work and future brand by creating clay sculptures, which she would then dress. Expanding the canvas for which she designed allowed her to break free of typical beauty and body standards. She creates for freedom, outside of societal confines– Beckedorf designs beyond gender and for more than just a body. At its core, SVEASØN is about inclusivity and freedom.
The brand’s collection takes inspiration from Molybdomancy, an ancient divination technique of creating and interpreting ambiguous shapes from molten metals.
Along with inclusivity, another key element of SVEASØN is sustainability. The wearer can reverse, reshape, and adjust the brand’s versatile pieces in various ways, creating multiple looks from the same garment.
Through sustainability, community, historical references, and creativity, SVEASØN is broadening what fashion is and who its targets are.
Their debut collection will no doubt be an important first step in cementing the brand’s unique place in fashion.
