INSOMNIA, Marcel Ostertag ́s new collection, is a journey into the world of the night ́s ecstasy and restless desire. It reflects the pulsating night life – exciting, mystical and transported by a never-ending energy. Inspired by the club culture of the seventies and modern rhythms, Ostertag creates a collection that not only lives in the moment, but also reflects himself in fashion.
With a unique mix of different patterns, inspired by the light and lamp design of the seventies and graphically modified jungle prints, the collection presents itself as a visual celebration. In an innovative process, interior elements were photographed by Marcel Ostertag himself and then graphically remastered. The prints that came to life infatuate the observer with an incomparable depth.
In order to lend the linear prints additional softness, sensuality and sexiness, Ostertag combines the prints with opulent and swinging frills. The designer plays with colours such as cream, orange, mint, silver, green and petrol, that carry the energy of the night and combines them with elegant fabrics such as faux leather, silk and classic knits. These creations – from cocktail and evening dresses to pant suits and flowing caftans – radiate a rare balance between luxury and suitability for every day.

In our latest interview, the Berlin-based designer walks us through INSOMNIA, his electric 2025 collection inspired by the wild energy of the 1970s club scene.
From reimagining traditional craftsmanship in his Berlin studio to embracing bamboo jersey and recycled plastics, Ostertag blends innovation with intention. We spoke to him about his creative rituals, Berlin’s endless influence, and how he’s weaving sustainability into every stitch.

What story are you telling with your 2025 collection?

How does Berlin continue to shape your creative vision and inspire you this season?
Berlin stands for young design and club culture, creativity, and subcultures. The city inspires me every season. The combination of tradition and modernity is the engine that drives me forward every season.
Your collections often balance tradition with innovation. How does this philosophy come to life in this collection?
For me, craftsmanship and design flow together and thus combine tradition and innovation. We work on the collection in our Berlin studio and combine traditional craft techniques and modern innovation, fabrics, and details.
Have you explored any new materials or techniques this season?
We worked with a new jersey made from bamboo, and we had some fabrics embroidered with small leaves made from recycled plastic.
How do you balance sustainability and creativity in your designs?
We have been working with deadstock fabrics for many seasons. It couldn’t be more sustainable. We use materials that are already produced by other brands to reduce our footprint.
What does the future hold for Marcel Ostertag?
Marcel Ostertag’s future will be based on stability and togetherness. We will continue to combine glamor and sustainability and celebrate the seventies.
As Marcel Ostertag continues to blur the lines between glamour and sustainability, his vision remains clear: fashion with purpose, passion, and soul.
The collection is an invitation to celebrate the night. It combines the longing for freedom and companionship and unites the essence of nightlife in every single piece. While sophisticated embroidery, pearls and crystals are integrated in the designs, golden rings and cut out moments exude a seductive charm, making the collection mystical and sexy.
