After turning heads with their cult debut Scream In The City and tearing through clubs across Europe, Stockholm-based synth provocateurs Sex Kino are back — and louder than ever. Their latest release, DEFCON ONE, lands on the esteemed Spanish underground imprint SOIL Records this May, delivering four tracks of razor-sharp electronic pop and dancefloor-ready drama.
A New Era: SEX KINO – DEFCON ONE
Marking their return with a bold statement, DEFCON ONE captures Sex Kino at their most dynamic. Drawing from five decades of dancefloor culture — from Italo disco to EBM, from Berlin basements to ’80s synth-pop flair — the EP is a vivid, analog-fueled ride. Released on limited edition 12” silver grey vinyl and cassette, it’s a collector’s dream steeped in nostalgia and forward-facing club energy.
We’re thrilled to premiere “Ubahn”, one of the standout cuts from the record. Industrial-tinged and driven by propulsive synths, the track channels the hypnotic momentum of underground transit systems and the raw intensity of urban nightlife. It’s a pounding, late-night anthem with icy textures and laser-focused energy — classic Sex Kino, sharper than ever.
We had a Q&A with Sex Kino about their new EP Defcon One and the story behind its creation.
Hi, how are you?
Hi! We’re fantastic, super exited to see our second album Defcon One being released and preparing for shows this spring and summer. We live in the forest north of Stockholm, spring here always feels lika a fresh start to everything.
Tell us the story about the creation of “SexKino – U-Bahn “ from Deacon One on SOIL
We first lived together in Berlin and created Sex Kino under the influence of the that city and all of its’ madness. The U-Bahn is the like the central nervous system where all of Berlin’s energies collide into a fast paced, delirious microcosm. Besides the feverish tempo of “U-Bahn” we couldn’t resist the cliché of those famous warning sounds, taunting you when you’re trying to make your way home from the club.
Could you reveal to us more about your EP and how you connected with SOIL records?
Defcon One took shape when the war in Ukraine started. Thoughts of the Cold War, space age dystopia and nuclear paranoia jumpstarted our songwriting, starting with Red Alert followed by East Meets West.
We’d been connected to artists on SOIL and was well aware of their reputation for great underground music. They initially contacted us in 2023, and we knew Defcon One would be in the best of hands with them.

With DEFCON ONE, Sex Kino don’t just revisit electronic music’s past — they reimagine it for today’s restless dancefloors. Whether you’re into synth nostalgia or modern club experimentation, this is one release that demands attention.
