”Usually for creative works like music videos, I gather inspiration from the song titles and the lyrics. More often than not, the atmosphere and tone of a song can influence me.
In this case, the song title itself ‘Gloomy Heart’, has inspired the idea, and suggests the aim to capture and express a mood of melancholy or sadness related to a love story.
The word ‘gloomy’ and its associated mood inspired me to connect it with purple, which could be associated with various feelings, including mystery, sophistication, and sometimes a sense of melancholy or introspection.
While the word ‘heart’ has inspired a more physical or visceral interpretation, it might suggest a focus on the emotional and physiological aspects associated with the heart. I tried to create a visual representation and symbolic imagery that could communicate the emotional and physical aspects of the heart.
The combination of ‘gloomy’ and ‘heart’ leads to exploring emotional struggles and heartache. At the same time, the physical aspects are represented through imagery such as heartbeats, anatomical depictions, or symbolic representation of blood from the heart as a core of emotions.
Another element that has been fundamental for the inspiration of the setting is the location. As soon as I saw it for the first time, the narrative came into my mind. Details such as its physical characteristics, ambience and context all contribute to shaping the storyline and mood.”
