Rooted in a humble working-class mentality that is ingrained in the region’s DNA, the key point of identification in this diverse environment is evident. After the closure of the mines, various sectors of society united to promote local transformation. The Stone Techno Festival embodies this mission as the region’s largest multi-disciplinary project, with a musical, cultural, political, scientific, and social approach.
Four stages, seamlessly fitting into the immense backdrop, will showcase a sophisticated blend of artists and genres that the scene has to offer.
While this alone is reason enough to embrace the concept, this year marks a milestone as the festivities commence a day earlier and include two additional night events. The captured magic, provided by our streaming partner ARTE Concert, and the exceptional photographers and videographers we collaborate with, will be broadcasted worldwide to bring warmth and love not only to Essen but also to everywhere else and KEYI Magazine!
This year’s objective was once again to curate a lineup that is unparalleled in distinctiveness and quality, embracing new developments while honoring classic acts.

Rocks and minerals remain central to the Ruhr Area, representing the alpha and omega of its landscape and people. Thus, they receive not only musical but also multi-disciplinary attention.
Led by geologist Dr. Achim Reisdorf, the scientific head of the project, a dedicated team will once again showcase minerals and educate guests, in line with the tradition of the raw materials that have shaped an entire region: Stones.
At its core, the Stone Techno Festival celebrates the transformative power of music and the enduring spirit of the Ruhr Area. It’s a magnificent moment to the region’s past, present, and future—creativity and innovation in a rapidly changing world.
