ASICS NOVALIS™ – 2nd season by ASICS and the Kiko Kostadinov studio, inspired by the practice of everyday life innately is slated to release this week at ASICS platforms and selected retailers.
Notable additions to core silhouettes and details from ASICS NOVALIS’ debut include the GEL-STYRAX™ sneaker, a sabot style of footwear and the ASICS Training suit, reminiscent of a track training set found within the ASICS archive. A mantle is presented, reversible in wear with branded snap fastenings. It is a coherent extension to the adaptive function of garments within the ASICS NOVALIS range. A zip down wrap skirt, further demonstrates these qualities and can be easily worn over trousers. Prior shapes are expanded upon through the application of colour block details and updated fabrications, namely a soft shell twill, contrasting the tonality of season 1.
Through daily revision and rhythm the second series of ASICS NOVALIS travels with ease and purpose and synthesises ‘A Sound Mind In A Sound Body’. Sequence, seriality and repetition are all markers of ‘practice’. ASICS NOVALIS visually decode this idea in season 2 through the formulation of an oblique repeat pattern, derived from the archive and executed on a custom jacquard tape.
The relief motif is generated in a blue and green diagonal sequence, subtly drawing the eye forward with its simplicity and rigor. It is placed throughout new developments and compliments shades of dahlia and ASICS blue with accents of bright green and silver throughout the series. Present as a raised linear construction, the motif reoccurs on footwear; notably on the GEL- STYRAX™ sneaker. The sabot style, devoid of a classic lacing system, is equipped with ease and plurality in wear.
Together the sequence of pieces from ASICS NOVALIS season 2 are main stays in the practice of everyday life. ASICS NOVALIS Season 2, Drop 1 will release on ASICS.com, select ASICS stores, and Kiko Kostadinov online on September 7th, followed by the global release with select wholesale partners on September 14th.
