Sydney-born designer Lee, now based in New York, graduated in 2008 from TAFE New South Wales’s Fashion Design Studio, an institution whose notable alumni include Akira Isogawa, Bianca Spender, and Nicky Zimmermann. The following year, he launched his eponymous brand and debuted his first womenswear collection at Australian Fashion Week at the age of 23.
He was soon hailed as “the boy wonder of Australian fashion,” known for creating luxury pieces described as “body-conscious,” “sculptural,” and “technical yet sensual,” merging traditional tailoring with experimental construction.
The Australian fashion label Dion Lee has dressed celebrities such as Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, the Duchess of Sussex and Troye Sivan & many more.
Due to the withdrawal of the partnership with the Australian retailer Cue, it unforunately has to close, but as a creative force, there’s no doubt we’ll be seeing much more from Lee.
